Women's Match Report

Despite having a depleted team due to exam pressures and illness, the ladies’ squad was determined to do their best. This involved Hannah & Sophie doubling up in the distance events and many others willingly doing extra events on the day. In addition, many of the team positioned highly across their respective events. We said hello to Chelmsford members new to competing for us in the SAL competition, including several U17s.

PBs were obtained by Georgia (400m, 58.3s), Zion (100mH, 15.2s), Charlotte (hammer 37.70m) and Sophie in her first steeplechase (2000m s/c, 9 mins 21.7s).

Two of the team qualified for the league’s Man of the Match with their performances: Zion in the 100mH and Maegan in the shot (12.66m).

Thank you to Shirley for organising the team in advance.

Men's Match Report

Firstly the man of the match was James Becker. He is new to the squad and only 16 years old. He ran both a Pb in the 100 and 200 with 11.0 and 22.6 which are both times which qualify him to compete in the National League team. He also ran a strong anchor let in the 4x100.

Although non scoring, Luke Oliver ran a very strong 400m P.B with 52.3 down from 53.6. (also won B string 800m)

Nathan Bushnell first match back after a multi year break with 2 wins in B string shot and discus with Kevin Wilson winning the respective A Strings.

New squad member Oliver Graham debuted with a huge win in the hammer with 62.56 just 37cm from his all time best.

Luke Keteleers competed about 7/8 events (cant remember exactly) covering everything required and picking up a vast number of points for the team.

After an on track injury and 45 minute delay we knew with 4 events to go we were within 2 points of Ipswich so needed to stay ahead of them in the 4x4 relays. Both men's and women's teams managed to stay ahead of Ipswich with a massive effort even when tired from multiple events.

This certainly isn't an exhaustive list of good performances, everyone stepped up to the plate when asked and put in 110%.
