Colchester Harriers AC and Chelmsford AC are very pleased to announce that there will be a Virtual Junior Challenge between our two great clubs. Two of the County's & Country's oldest towns (now cities) pitting their athletic wits against each other in what will be a fun and friendly competition with old rivals.

Below are the rules and requirements for the competition:

Open to Age Groups U11, U13, U15 & U17 (as per your current Road/XC age group)

Distance: U11's 1 mile with a max of -10mts net elevation, loops are permitted as long as each loop is a minimum of 1/2 a mile

U13's, U15's, & U17's 2 miles with a max of -20mts net elevation, loops are permitted as long as each loop is a minimum of 1/2 a mile

Date: Runs should be completed between 00:00 22nd & 23:00 30th of January 2021.

Times can be submitted to us between the 22nd & 23:59 on 30th January 2021.

Runs should be recorded via Strava/Garmin or any other running app and submitted via the email links below, screenshots or photographs are permitted*. We appreciate that there are age restrictions on some apps, so for this competition using a parents/guardians account for recording purposes is allowed.

There will be individual and team winners for each of the eight races with the first three for each team scoring.

Safety and COVID-19

Current Government COVID-19 guidelines must be adhered to.

The run should be within a reasonable distance from your home.
Make sure the route you select does not endanger you, is free of obstacles and hazards, and is traffic and pedestrian free.
Busy parks, pavements and other areas are not suitable locations to run.
Please consider completing your run at a time of the day when there will be less foot-traffic.
Always give primacy to pedestrians on route and follow government guidance keep a two-metre distance from any passers-by.
If at any point during your run it feels unsafe in the context of proximity to passers-by you should terminate your run immediately.
All Runners must be supervised by a responsible adult.
We reserve the right to cancel the event if the current COVID-19 situation/guidelines changes.
