The 2021 Essex County Cross Country Championships are being held at Writtle University College on their beautiful countryside campus and is proudly hosted by Chelmsford AC.

We at Chelmsford AC are determined to put on races for our wonderful running community and make the event as enjoyable, competitive and memorable as we can whilst working within the current constraints of Government Covid-19 guidelines. For current guidelines click here.

Our priority is and always will be the safety of our athletes, officials and dedicated volunteers so now more than ever we ask everyone to help us meet that goal and do everything you can to abide by all the race guidelines remembering that this will only work if you and everyone plays their part with the utmost diligence.

The 2021 Championships are open to age groups U13 to U20, it is with great regret that due to restrictions laid down by the Government and therefore UKA we are unable to provide races for our Seniors and Vets.

Entry Fee

£6.50 per athlete

Team Managers will be given a link to the Athlete Registration portal where they can register all the athletes they wish to compete. The closing date for entries is 21st December 2020 after which we will calculate how many athletes from each club are competing and send a bill to cover that amount for payment by BACS.

We appreciate that the charge is higher than other years but please be assured we've have kept the price as low as we possibly can. The increase is due to extra measures required so we can put this race on during the Covid pandemic. The extra costs cover an increased medical presence, portable outside WC's, extra signage and consumable such as wristbands etc.

Age Criteria

Under 13: Ages 11 & 12 years as at the 31st Aug/1st Sept 2020

Under 15: Ages 13 & 14 years as at the 31st Aug/1st Sept 2020.

Under 17: Ages 15 & 16 years as at the 31st Aug/1st Sept 2020.

Under 20: Ages 17, 18 & 19 years as at the 31st Aug/1st Sept 2020.

On The Day

Race numbers to be collected on the day by Team Managers at the Registration Desk near the Start/Finish arena.

Strictly ONE companion per athlete NO EXCEPTIONS.

Each athlete and their one companion will be temperature checked upon arrival (see map) by trained medical staff (Note to athletes: DO NOT warm up before you've had your temperature checked) if the checks are OK the athlete and their companion will only then be issued with a coloured wristband which corresponds to the race they are in. The athlete will need this wristband to gain entrance to the race arena and their companion will need it to gain entrance to the race viewing area. Please note that ANY breach of this rule will result in the disqualification of the athlete and they and their companion will be asked to leave the campus immediately.

Once the race is finished both the main race arena and the race viewing area will be emptied via our one way system which will take you back to the car park. Parents/Companions don't worry there is a rendezvous point in the race viewing area (see map) where you can meet your child as they exit the race arena.

Only once both areas are empty can we allow the next set of athletes/companions in so we ask everyone to exit immediately in a swift, safe and orderly fashion please.

We respectfully ask everyone to leave the campus as soon as possible once you have finished running/spectating. Its imperative that if you don't need to be there DON'T be there.
