Our Juniors are Crowned EYAL League Champions for the Third Year Running.

The final fixture of the EYAL season brought yet another outstanding result where victory was gained with 811 points - a huge margin over Herts. Phoenix on 617 followed by Cambridge 524, Basildon 424, Brentwood 392, Harlow 367 and hosts Bedford Lions 255. Over the four meetings we have topped the eight hundred mark on each occasion - no other club has achieved that at any of their meetings. This obviously brings CAC the league title, and this for the third successive year and here we must give credit to the coaches who have brought the athletes on to their performances.

Each of the age groups, boys and girls, contributed to this latest win with all topping their class and it is not possible to show all the athletes placings which brought this result.

For the under 17`s in the boys Harry Lee, so accomplished over numerous events, this time around concentrated on the throws - winning the shot putt and discus and taking second place in the javelin. Oscar Dove gained success in the hammer throw and taking the `B` string high jump with further points in the discus. In the 800m Joe Delaney 2m 00.9s) and Daniel Pollard (2m01.7s) both dipped under their previous best whilst gaining maximum points. At 1500m Max Chivers placed second with Luke Webb in the `B` string also second but recording a pb of 4m 29,4s. Wins came for Marcus Fazackerley in the hurdles, and it was to be a second spot in the long jump. From the high jump there was a win for Charlie Pyner. From the girls Amelie Scott and Chelsea Clarke paired to take maximum points from the hurdles and long jump Chelsea also taking a first in the high jump. In the 300m Lily Hartman was a winner with Lucy Bulman close behind. At 800m maximum points came via Amelie Shipton and Milana Thorpe. In the throws Monica Malagala had a trio of wins, the shot putt, discus and hammer. From the javelin it was another full house via Maddison Poulter and Milana Thorpe and this double also came in the triple jump with Amy Pugsley and Olivia Hall.

Star of the under 15`s has to be Olivia Mullineaux who won the shot, discus and hammer. In the sprints there was a double for Abigail Nwakor winning both 100 and 200, In the 100 Chloe Allam won the `B` race and it was Katie Lowe doing likewise at the 200m. There came maximum points from the 1500m from Erin Kelly and Isla Kehoe with Isla setting a new pb of 4m 56.5s. There were full points from the long jump with Everlyn Platts and Francino Nyirend. Katie Blackburn won the 800m with Orla Marsha 2<sup>nd</sup> place. Cheri Moss won the hurdles with Shindara Adeyemo taking a second place but later winning the `B` shot putt. From the boys there was a win for Felix Browne in the 300 metres, also having a second over the hurdles. Success also for Harry Hughes in the pole vault and for Bevan Dove in the hammer. It was teamwork in this group - such as Ben Ryder contesting shot, discus and long jump. In the under 13`s Laurel Chandler came up with three wins from a strange range of events - hurdles, long jump and discus. Kayleigh Kayembo had wins in the `B` hurdles and the javelin. In the 1500m Leila Robinson took second place but then Scarlet Metcalfe won the `B` here. Over at the high jump Breanna Dosumu and Macie Hall took full points with both involved in other events. Felicity Charles and Sofia Lawrence were picking up points from multiple events. The boys shot putt brought two firsts with Isaac Coleman and Franklin our pairing. Toby Stothard and Stanley Adams also came up with two firsts from the long jump. To the final events, the relays, and victory was to come in five of the groups.

And so now we can look to the `CUP FINAL` on 7th September on home soil at Melbourne Park. Again, we will be looking to make the trophy our own having won the past two years. The leading six involved, per league table, shows as 1st Chelmsford 28 points (3355 match points) 2^nd SS Athletics/Enfield 26 (2930), Havering 25 (2975), Norwich 24 (2853), Shaftesbury 24 (2754) and Stevenage 23 (2544).

Let’s hope that everybody is available for this meeting for looking at our ranking lists this has not been the case during the term.
