A Huge Effort & Huge EYAL Win for CAC.

Our second fixture of the season took place at home and thankfully we dodged the weather that had been so awful in the run up to Sunday.
This on paper could have been quite a challenging fixture, with some tricky opponents in the line-up. We hosted Harlow, Basildon, Bedford, Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers, St. Albans and West Suffolk.
Overall we scored a quite incredible 895pts and ended up 226pts in front of our nearest rivals SBH.
This was definitely a record combined score for us as a club, but we believe it’s also a League record.
More amazingly, all 6 of our teams won their respective age/gender category outright –so success for the U14G, U16G, U18W, U14B, U16B and U18M. It’s incredible the strength in depth we are now creating in our Junior squad, backed up by the statistic that we even allocated all 50 of our Non-Scorer entitlement too.
In the other sister fixtures that day the 2 teams who bested their groups scored 860pts & 814pts respectively, so although we are top of the League Leaderboard , we clearly won’t have it all our own way come the Top-6 Cup Final in September.
Thanks once again to our all of our graded Track & Field officials who ensured CAC scored a maximum of 70pts relating to their contribution and to those parents that filled-in to assist them on our events rota.
Whilst we praise help, thank you also to the Tea-Hut volunteers as Michelle tells me your hard work raised ~£1,200 which all goes back into the club coffers.
Lastly I’d like to give a big shout-out to Steve Wilkin, who didn’t sit down once in capturing 2,000+ photos from the day to give us such great memories of this fixture. I particularly like the one gracing this report that really epitomises the phrase ‘Leaving it all out there on the track’.

Thank you to all the athletes that participated, every single point scored is valuable and by filling as many events as we did is what contributed to that record total.
