A Perfect Start to our EYAL Campaign.

First of all I’d like to acknowledge the immense work of Roy Meadowcroft, who after many dedicated years of writing-up our Chelmsford AC junior results has decided it’s finally time to pass on the baton (pun definitely intended). I’ve some very big shoes to fill, so hopefully this commentary meets with his approval.

Our initial fixture of the season took place at The Ridlins Stadium in Stevenage on 26^th April and was the first time out for the newly revised League format of U14/U16/U18 teams.

As EYAL Champions 3 years in a row we had a lot to live up to but didn’t fail to disappoint. Our opponents were Stevenage, Watford, Hertford Phoenix, Thurrock, Harlow and Bedfordshire Lions.

The team scored an immense 850.5pts and ended up 218.5pts in front of our nearest rivals Herts.

4 out of 6 of our teams won their age/gender category outright – the U14G, U16G, U18W and U18M. It was also lovely to see a decent number of aspiring new athletes wearing the Green & Gold for the first time at a competition and very much bolstering the roster in our youngest groups.

In the other sister fixtures that day the 2 teams who won their groups scored 792pts & 745pts respectively, so we also went top of the early Leaderboard for the Top-6 Cup Final in September. 

Thanks to our all of our graded officials and parent-helpers who ensured that the day ran smoothly in almost perfect weather for competing.
